The Draka were beaten, but at what cost? The Draka have exterminated so many languages and ethic groups at this point, not to mention the unique situation with the Servus and the Ghouloons, (Especially the Former) that the Draka's defeat is very bittersweet and long overdue.
Why don't the "voting results" box where it is listed how many states voted for whom match the colours on the map? It states the "Farm and factory" got 6 states, but I count 7 - Kansas, Nebraska, Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan and Pannsylvania Republican and Democtaric Progressiv don't match eigher
I commissioned the map, and am 150% pleased with how it turned out.
As far as the background, yes, in this TL, the Draka lose. (See here for my hasty take on the notion: [link])
The election itself is a pretty screwy one. Poor Jerry Eisenreich is not a popular figure with the DP party afterwards for obvious reasons, even though his voters probably split even between DP and R if it came to a second-choice vote.
Roughly speaking, the four parties break down along these lines:
Catholic Democrats - socially conservative and economically moderate Catholics, mostly Spanish speaking Republicans - center-right in social and economic terms, split between old WASPs and post-war immigrants and refugees from Europe and Asia Democratic-Progressive - socially liberal, economically center-left Factory and Farm - working class social conservatives, strongly in favor of labor unions and protectionist economics
